EMA MAN OF THE YEAR

 

 

Richard Chandler was born and raised in Houston, Texas, to Cedric and Joyce Chandler. He grew up in a household with three other brothers who were all competitive athletes. Richard was a student-athlete that loved sports. Throughout his high school tenure, he played football, baseball, and track. He attended and graduated from Willowridge high school in Fort Bend ISD. Richard was blessed to receive a scholarship to play football at Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. During his college years, he was voted second-team all-conference for two years. After graduating from Tabor College with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Health, Richard became a graduate assistant at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. While at ECU, Richard coached the offensive line and received his master's degree in Secondary School Principalship.

 

After graduating with his master's, Richard returned home and taught and coached football for many years. Richard is currently the Principal at Wharton High School and has been serving in that position for three years. All the while, Richard has also served as assistant pastor at the church where he was born and raised. Richard has been married to his beautiful wife for 15 years. Through their union, they have a son, RJ, and twin daughters, Lauren and Londyn. In his free time, Richard loves to hang out with his family and watch movies. Richard loves God and is blessed to be a husband, father, and leader.
